The 110th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme

The History department commemorated the 110th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme last week. Students joined us to remember those who had fought in the 1st Battalion of the Devonshire Regiment by writing their names on poppies for our poppy wall. We completed a quiz based on our Battle of the Somme display board, enjoyed cakes and watched footage of WWI soldiers at the battlefront. We also made sure we had tidied the Harry Patch Garden ready for Harry Patch day in September. Thank you to the students who came to commemorate the anniversary with us.
