Music to make your heart race
Year 7 investigate the link between their pulse rate and the speed of the music they listen to.
On the Deep Learning Day on 28th September, four Year 7 groups spent a day investigating how different kinds of music affected them. By taking their pulses before and after listening to a selection of popular songs from the last 50 years they were able to quantify the effect each song had on them.
We also listened to the pulse of the music to work out how many beats per minute each song had. The day included a lot of discussion of the variables involved in music, as well as many calculations, using averages and representing data in a graph. The students came up with some interesting conclusions based on the information they collected.
