A Successful Summer of Exam Results
Congratulations to students in all exam years on their results this summer, which showed a number of improvements on 2012. At A level, nearly all of our Year 13s achieved grades enabling them to move on to the university or course of their choice; we are pleased that the percentage of A* – B grades was 8% above the statistical prediction. AS results improved over 10%, with an A – E rate of 86%; again, A – B grades increased.
After last year’s GCSE disappointments, we are pleased that the key benchmark of 5 or more GCSE grade Cs (including English and Maths) is back in the 60s, just. Most other benchmarks have improved, and students’ expected progress in Maths has reached an excellent 80%. However, we are far from complacent, especially after July’s Ofsted, and recognise that while our students’ successful summer is an important step clearly in the right direction, there is plenty more to be done.
