Roger Simmonds
Former students and staff will be sad to learn that Roger Simmonds has died recently, aged 65. Roger worked at Clyst Vale for many years in the 1990s and early 2000s, both as a supply teacher and as a teacher of RE (before it became known as “Beliefs & Values”); he helped us out of a number of short-term staffing problems. Roger was also well known in Clyst St George, for whom he played cricket and was latterly scorer, being associated with the cricket club for around half a century. He was heavily committed to amateur theatre in East Devon, and was a Methodist lay preacher for over forty years. Roger will be remembered here as a thoroughly kind and genuine man, always supportive of others.
