Cross Country Round 2
Another wonderful day of athletics took place on Thursday with the second round of the area cross country. Once again hosted by Blundells School but with round one’s course run in reverse, it was the best of Exeter versus the best East Devon had to offer. In the junior girls the competition was very tough with the mud claiming shoes and some fallers! Willow ran home a respectable 12 and will have wait to see if she qualifies. Siblings Kate and Ruthie also navigated the bogs and slopes with comparative ease but finished outside qualifying. The boys followed and Noah skipped across the quagmires, his quick gait an advantage over some the bigger runners. Like Ruthie, Noah was a year young for the category and he also ran in outside the top 12 qualifiers. The event took an odd turn as inter boys were asked to step up a distance and race along side senior boys over 5km. However, both Jasper and Ollie were unphased and recorded the highest finishes for Clyst Vale in 5th and 7th. Both will move onto the county round and meet the top runners in Devon. Superb effort, camaraderie and behaviour from our Clyst Vale athletes.
