Harry Patch Garden & Flower Meadow
We are about to take a large group of year 9 students to France and Belgium. We will be visiting the battlefields of both Belgium and France and will take part in the Ypres memorial service. We will also visit both Commonwealth and German crematories.
The Harry Patch garden was established to remember all of the serviceman, on both sides of the line, who fought in the conflict. Opposite the garden we now have a wild flower meadow with a glorious display of cornflowers. As cornflowers are the French national flower of remembrance it is especially poignant that they are in bloom just before our trip.
The wild flower garden was planned by our superb maintenance team here, led by Mr Tony Adshead. The team has always been so supportive of my work with the Harry Patch Garden and deserve credit for making it so much better this summer.
