DfE Civil Servant Visits Hearing Support
On Friday 11 November we were delighted to welcome David Chater (far right in photograph below), a senior civil servant from the Department for Education who was visiting Devon to see how hearing impaired students are taught and supported in a variety of school settings. David visited an English lesson and spoke with some of our hearing impaired students and staff in the Hearing Support Centre (HSC).
The HSC is a unique feature of Clyst Vale, and an important example of our caring ethos. The unit caters for up to a dozen students, with varying degrees of hearing loss and additional needs, but operates a policy of integrating students as much as possible: indeed, they are Clyst Vale students who happen to need some specialist support. Our visitor was very complimentary about his visit to Clyst Vale, and was impressed by the quality of provision on offer.
