Welcome to Mr Jorden
On Monday 10th July Mr Arthur Jorden returned to Clyst Vale. He was born on 4th July 1924, served in the Royal Air Force during the second World War and was in France a few days after the D-Day landings. He emigrated to Canada after the war and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in the 1950’s. He now lives in Vancouver.
Arthur spoke to a class of Year 8 History students four years ago and has been back to visit us at Clyst Vale every year since then. He spoke to a group of Post 16 students on Monday and told them a little of his life story. He was born in Egypt where his father was an RAF officer, and met T E Lawrence and Lord Baden Powell whilst in Egypt. After he retired from the RCAF he did some work as a film extra in Vancouver where he met a young Johnny Depp. He wanted our students to know that in his experience the two most important things in life are to get a good education and to travel as much as possible.
Our students were so pleased to be able to spend time with Mr Jorden. His positive and determined attitude is a joy to see.
