Year 8 Boys Rugby
Cullompton 5-60 Clyst Vale
Congratulations to the Year 8 lads which finished the regular autumn term rugby programme defeated, the second year in succession. The lads have yet to lose in Clyst Vale colours and tonight showed the true strength of their squad, by beating close rivals, Cullompton Community College, by 12 tries to 1.
Despite travelling without key players such as Max and Charlie, the boys stood up strong and despite conceding a try from the kick off, rallied to score 12 unanswered tries through Joe (x2), Ewan (x2), Ruben (x2) Harry C, Harry P, Will, Oliver M, Cian and Jack. Leo was at the forefront of each carry in the hooker position, with Oliver P making several crucial turnovers and steals. Henry made some great links between forwards and backs, with Josh ever so close to notch his first ever try for the school and looks to be improving week-on-week.
Man of the match went to skipper, Sonny. He led the team brilliantly at scrum half in both defence and attack with some outstanding chop tackles, stopping their key ball carriers at source.
Well done to all of the lads who reconvene in 2025 for some 7s practice in preparation for the Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s in March.
