The Power of Good

hp4On 22nd January, 53 students attended an event at Exeter Picture House. They were shown a film “The Power of Good” about the work of Sir Nicholas Winton who arranged transport out of Prague for 669 children in 1939. His actions saved these children from the Nazi concentration camps and almost certain death. Sir Nicholas is still alive today and is 104 years of age.

Students then met one of those whose life was saved. Lady Grenfell-Baines was 9 years old when she left Prague. Her mother told her to take care of her younger sister who was then just 3 years old. Both girls were then looked after by a wonderful family in England.

Our students all behaved perfectly during this very moving film, and asked superb questions of Lady Grenfell-Baines. It was a very special event and one which our students will never forget.
