Covid-19 (Coronavirus) 19.03.20

Covid-19 (Coronavirus)

Daily Update 19th March 2020 (10.15 a.m.)

  1. Please refer also to the URGENT CORONAVIRUS UPDATE of yesterday, 18th March
  1. Provision for “Keyworkers” and vulnerable students.

We are still awaiting guidance on who are deemed “key workers” and how this will work, especially in the Easter holiday period. When we have the definitive list, we will contact parents to establish who is a key worker and whether they are likely to make use of this provision. Clearly, we need to know numbers. We do not routinely gather this information (because we’ve never needed to!)

  1. Public Examinations

We have been told that further guidance and clarification will be issued tomorrow (Friday, 20th March). I have tried to keep personal opinions out of these updates, but I am so angry that this was not clarified in the first place. The distress caused to huge numbers of students across the country since yesterday’s announcement (witnessed in College this morning) is appalling.

  1. Students in Receipt of Free School Meals

We await guidance on this. It has been suggested that the government will introduce a food voucher scheme, but there are no further details at present.
