A Right Honourable Visit

We were delighted to welcome TWO Ministers of State on Friday 11 May!  Local MP (and Minister for Northern Ireland) Hugo Swire had invited Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove to East Devon, so naturally Clyst Vale was included on the itinerary!

During his visit, Mr Gove met Sixth Form Politics A level students for a ‘Question Time’ session. As well as course-related questions (‘What are your views on the separation of powers?’), there were political ones (‘Do you feel your coalition with the Lib Dems has watered down your manifesto pledges?’), and wider political ones (‘What do you think about Boris Johnson being re-elected Mayor?).

Having survived this, Messrs Gove and Swire visited a Year 11 Science lesson, and had a brief discussion with the Principal and senior staff about how becoming an Academy has improved Clyst Vale, and about our aspirations for the future.
